Glennys Marsdon

Life is for living. Feed your mind. Look at the world around you. Make an effort to take part in the dance of life. James Van Praagh

Life's dance has blessed Glennys with countless opportunities to explore the world and feed her mind. Both work and play have granted her access to a myriad of life's crevasses. On many occasssions she emerged with her mind oscillating between disbelief, and intense admiration for mankind. Experiences such as:

  • Racing through red light, after red light while on the Australian Red Cross Disaster Preparedness (First On The Scene) Team;
  • Realising it's 9pm and you're alone in a tiny smoke filled kitchen with ten multi-drug users who've been recruited from the streets to talk about their drug use, and reactions to a new government ad campaign.
  • Spending a year in Fremantle clubs and laneways studying alcohol related behaviour during the Americas Cup, albeit after availing yourself of the compulsory Hepatitis C shots;
  • Being patted down by prison security guards before venturing beyond the bars to interview domestic violence perpetrators;
  • Recognising the importance of maintaining an open mind when you find yourself in the remote bush setting of Kalgoorlies illegal Two Up Ring. It’s dusk, everyone else is leaving in a hurry before the light fades completely. You're alone, in a car that wont start, with a hidden cash box containing thousands of dollars in public donations. Just ahead a dust cloud announces the imminent arrival of a stranger;
  • Finding yourself standing alone in the middle of the Perth Concert Hall stage infront of a packed house, with only a small lime green bikini and an intense spray tan for protection;
  • A year later sitting in front of fifty immaculately groomed male and female body builders and being asked to nominate a winner;
  • Sitting in a dark, cramped radio studio with a talkback caller waiting for you to say something, anything;
  • Resurfacing from the heart stopping sudden loss of your partner, and along the way being astounded by the generous spirit of complete strangers.

The following pages outline how some of these events came to be.
